Perched on the rooftop of the Kwaii surf shop looking out to sea, is our café Bangkok Kitchen, that serves up mouth-watering Thai street food.
Bangkok Kitchen fills the lacuna in the Weligama eating scene by bringing in the exotic flavours and fragrances of Thai cuisine, the ingredients of which are sourced straight from the country of origin. Trained by a Thai chef, Aunty and Uncle whip up the most authentic fare this side of the Indian Ocean, be it a spicy Kaprow or a sweet and tangy Pad Thai.
Depending on the day (or night) you can catch a mix of locals, surfers and travellers here. We start with brunch for famished surfers coming off the waves and dinner for anyone who wants to hang at a spot that offers cool music and a great view out to the sea. It is also a great spot for sundowners. Free wi-fi means you can catch up on work mails – though it will be difficult to concentrate while the chefs are cooking up tasty treats right under your nose.
With all your holiday necessities at hand (food, shopping, music), Bangkok Kitchen is the place to be.
